Across all activities that Code Club Aotearoa supports, we have a firm commitment to safeguarding. We believe we all have a responsibility to promote the welfare of children and young people and to keep them safe.
We ask that all volunteers and club leaders complete the police vetting requirements for working with children in New Zealand. When you register with us a member of our team will be in touch with the form and all the necessary info. You can find out more about that here.
We also strongly recommend that our volunteers complete the free safeguarding e-learning module before their first session. Created by our friends at the Raspberry Pi foundation, the interactive module has been developed for Code Club volunteers and takes around 30 minutes to complete.

As coronavirus impacts Aotearoa, many clubs will choose not to run in-person sessions. We feel it’s crucial to continue to support rangatahi in developing their digital skills, and we encourage our clubs to transition to a virtual classroom if possible.
We have put together a guide with advice on how to join an online club that is safe and fun and helps young people continue to learn from home. We’ve put this together based on feedback and ideas from leaders, volunteers and educators in our community and we’ll continue to update as needed.
